Flesh and Blood

This project line is one that I have never really felt any sense of completion from. It has given me a strong interest in taxidermy but that is not what it really means to me. Dissection of an animal is a very intimate process. The images I take from these dissections, although gruesome in nature, are not meant to shock. These images are for me a way to look at my own mortality and consider just how we work. The images of the mouse I call 'Autopsy of a Housemate', and that is how it felt. That creature had lived under the same roof as myself, they were my housemate.

The sublime is present in every living thing, man or mouse. The very fact we breathe and live is thanks to the interaction of things not bigger than ourselves, but much, much smaller.
